"I’ve tried many treatments over the years to improve my thinning hair. Here’s my story of what worked and what didn’t, and how I finally found success.
The bottom line with the Sonex Care Laser Therapy Cap: it works! — especially when combined with other treatments.
I’m a woman in my mid-70s, and while I’ve never had particularly thick hair, my hair started thinning significantly after menopause. Several years ago, I decided to undergo hair transplant surgery when my hair loss became quite noticeable. I knew it would take 12 to 18 months to see full results, but after a couple of months, I got impatient and started using minoxidil (5% foam) once a day on the top of my head, where thinning was the worst. After about a year, I saw great results. I continued using minoxidil for several more years, but eventually, my hair loss returned. Although the hair transplant worked initially, the results weren’t permanent, and minoxidil alone wasn’t enough to prevent further hair loss.
At that point, I lost faith in minoxidil and switched to the popular supplement Viviscal. I used Viviscal consistently for a year, stopping minoxidil altogether. Unfortunately, my hair loss worsened dramatically during that time. Bald spots became more pronounced, and I was desperate. For me, Viviscal had no positive effect.
I concluded that while the surgery had initially worked, it didn’t offer permanent improvement, and my underlying condition continued to cause hair loss. Minoxidil seemed to slow the loss somewhat, as when I stopped it, my hair loss accelerated.
Six months ago, feeling desperate, I decided to try the Sonex Care Laser Therapy Cap. I stopped Viviscal, resumed using minoxidil once a day, and added the laser cap to my routine (25 minutes every other day). I also started taking a daily biotin supplement (5 mg).
I gauge my hair loss by combing my wet hair with my fingers each morning to see how much hair falls out. During my time with Viviscal, I was losing a significant amount of hair. But after a few weeks of using the Sonex Care Laser Cap, combined with minoxidil and biotin, my hair loss decreased noticeably. After a few months, it was down to virtually zero.
One side effect of minoxidil was dandruff and scalp itching after about a month of use. I switched to a dandruff shampoo and started washing my hair 4-5 times a week. This quickly resolved the issue, and it hasn’t been a problem since.
After three months of using the Sonex Care Laser Cap, I noticed a slight fuzziness on the top of my head, which I took as a sign of new hair growth. I also started seeing more gray hairs, meaning I had to color my hair more frequently – a small price to pay for new growth! After six months, I’ve seen a lot of improvement in hair growth, especially on the top of my head, and even my doctor has commented on the difference. Interestingly, I noticed thinning areas where I wasn’t applying minoxidil, even though the laser cap covers the same area. This suggests that the best results come from combining the laser cap and minoxidil. I’ve since expanded the area where I apply minoxidil.
I plan to continue using the laser cap long-term, and once I reach my desired level of hair growth, I’ll consider reducing my use of minoxidil. If I notice any hair loss returning, I’ll adjust accordingly.
One small issue I’ve encountered with the Sonex Care Laser Cap is that it tends to slip backward unless I keep my head tilted slightly down. I also have concerns about the power cord, as it forms kinks easily, which I have to untwist carefully. Although it hasn’t caused problems yet, I hope the design can be improved to prevent this or allow for easy cord replacement.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with my results using the Sonex Care Laser Therapy Cap, and I highly recommend it for anyone struggling with hair loss.
